About

Explore the world of the Vikings in the largest Viking longhouse ever found in the Lofotr museum as you study the architecture and crafts of that time and look at an archaeological display.

Discover

This 83-metre long dwelling of a Viking chief was discovered in 1981, at the hands of a farmer. This is the largest building of the Viking era ever discovered in Scandinavia. The dwelling was made into a museum that now sits 14 kilometres north of Leknes, and allows you to live in the Viking times for a moment. Once you enter the museum, accurately dressed tour guides take you through it. Inside the chiefs hall, artists explain their respective trades, making it an educational and entertaining tour in one. They host a Viking feast every night during the summer, where you can enjoy Lofoten lamb and honey wine with prior bookings.
