Full description

For centuries, the Sami have kept their traditions alive in the Nordic region. From their bright clothes to reindeer herding practices, the life of the Sami community continues to amaze the world with their unique way of living . Learn all about this fascinating lifestyle in Sami Siida’s Northern Lights mystery tour. Participants will be greeted by their hosts at Sami Siida’s centre in Øvre, Alta, and taken for a tour around the centre. Your hosts will tell you tales about their origin, establishment, livelihood, and culture. They will share the community’s long-kept theories of the Aurora Borealis. Enjoy the warmth of the bonfire while learning all about this phenomenon from your hosts. This one-and-a-half-hour activity also includes a subtle dose of entertainment in the form of joik songs sung by the reindeer herders. Delve into the soothing rhythms played by them in the tent while experiencing the true essence of the Sami life. Relish on a warm cup of coffee while munching on traditional Siida cake in the tent. You can spend your time inside the tent or, if weather permits, go outside and experience the arctic wilderness.
