Full description

Sandwiched between lofty mountains on either side, waterfalls, lush greenery, and the beautiful Rauma River flowing in it, the Romsdalen valley is known for its jaw-dropping beauty. Adventure enthusiasts from far and wide visit this quaint part of Åndalsnes to try their hand at mountain climbing, hiking, and other exciting activities. Visiting the Norwegian Mountaineering Centre will give you a better insight into how mountaineering became an outdoor pursuit over the years. The guided tour starts with a 15-minute film titled 'Trollfolk', which talks about the various mountain sports in the Romsdalen area. The movie screen is 3D, depicted as a rock wall, from ceiling to floor! After the movie, guests are taken to the second floor, where you'll find an array of exhibits (videos, photos, and documentation) on mountaineering. Participate in the interactive stations and try out some fun activities! One station also showcases a shadow theatre film. All the exhibits are in Norwegian and English, catering to a broader audience. You can then head to the tower of the building, where you will find the country's highest indoor climbing hall! There are 60 climbs spread across 20 anchors to suit people with different skill levels – beginners, novices, and those up for a challenge. Tiny tots from 3 years and above can spend their time exploring a fun bouldering cave!
