If you're wondering how you can make the most of your winter vacation, consider snowshoe hiking! It is a great way to get some exercise during freezing temperatures and is not as difficult as other winter activities.
You will need a thermal jacket and a pair of thick boots for a comfortable hike.
Also, you will need to know some basic techniques to walk across depths of snow.
When you book Villmarkssenter’s snowshoe hike, you will be guided throughout the session across stunning, snowy terrains. On the day of the tour, you will be picked up from the meeting point, which is currently in front of the Radisson Blu Hotel in Tromsø.
After a short ride of 25 minutes, you will reach the Villmarkssenter centre. Your guide will brief you about the route you will be taking for the day, which will depend on the weather conditions and where the participants prefer hiking.
You will then be provided with a thermal suit, snowshoes, and snowshoeing equipment so that you can hike comfortably. Once you embark on your journey, you will be enthralled by the snow-covered terrains and magnificent landscapes.
You can take enough breaks to catch your breath and to snap some pictures. By the end of the 2-hour snow trek, you’ll learn to hike like a pro! If the weather conditions are favourable, your group can stop by the trail for a warm drink and some home-made chocolate cake.
You can also refresh after the hike by an open fire near the centre’s Gamme hut. Once you spend ample time relaxing after your trek, you will be transferred back to Tromsø.
Even though snowshoe hiking is not too difficult to crack, it is recommended for individuals who are over 12 years of age and in good physical condition.
Hike across snowy mountains and revel in the beauty of the gorgeous views.
All participants need to bring a pair of gloves, sunglasses, and a hat for snowshoe hiking.
